CHLORIDE

What is chloride?

Chloride is a mineral functioning in maintaining a normal moister balance in your body, in this, working together with sodium and potassium. Therefore it affects the blood pressure.

It's near impossible for someone to develop a deficit of this mineral in their system. It's maybe only possible for people who are extremely malnutritioned. (like people with anorexia)

Yet, too much chloride can cause a high blood pressure, which in turn can lead to a bigger chance of getting heart- and liver damage.

There is no recommended amount for chloride, but there is an amount that is adequate. This is connected to the recommended intake of sodium, because chloride is mostly taken into the system while bound to it. We're speaking of 2,3 grams per day per adult here. For kids it's about 2/3 of that and older people should consume less as well.

Where do I get chloride from?

Chloride is mostly bound to other minerals:

- Sodium-chloride

- Potassium-chloride

There is also a lot of chloride to be found in processed foods you buy at the supermarket. Because this is the base of our modern day lifestyle, more and more people eat too much chloride and get a high blood pressure. It's important to have your blood pressure checked ever couple months, to make sure there is no damage to be done.

Chloride is necessary, but make sure you don't consume too much.

Your moister balance, your heart, your blood pressure, they need you to eat your minerals every day.

I tried to make it easy for you on this platform. Now all you have to do is take the next step. ;)
